Application Process

  1. When completing your application, pay close attention to the option “Authorization to use Loan Funds to Satisfy Other Charges.” If this option is not selected, we will not be able to apply your Grad PLUS funds to your student account until you have fully paid all non-tuition and non-room and board charges.
  2. Complete the Graduate PLUS Request Process online at www.studentaid.gov. You must sign in using your federal FSA ID. If you do not have a federal FSA ID, you may create one at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.
  3. If you have not received Graduate PLUS loan at The University of Alabama previously, complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and entrance counseling online at studentaid.gov.
  4. Allow 10 business days for your application to be processed. During peak seasons, the application process may take up to 3 weeks.

If you do not have Internet access or are unable to complete the Graduate PLUS application online at studentaid.gov, please contact our office at 205-348-6756 and request a paper application.
